A 5 frame nucleus of bees and a new fully assembled National Hive and components –  360.00 – £380.00

How you participate on the course is up to you:

(i) You can just take the Practical Course (but you will still need to be a member of YDBKA). There is a maximum number of 8 places on a first come first served basis.

OR

(ii) You can take the Practical Course, Membership and buy the bees and hive package. There is a maximum number of 15 places on a first come first served basis.

If you opt to purchase the bees and hive package you will also need to have your own bee suit. We will advise full details and the cost of the hive and bees package, and further details of the other equipment nearer the time. The hive packages will be offered in due course to booked and paid participants in date order of booking on the Course, and only at this time will they need to pay for it should they decide to go ahead and purchase the package.

If you do purchase bees and a hive from the Association, it will be sited at an out Apiary for the duration of the course but at the end of the last evening of the course you will need to transport your colony to your own site.

If you plan to site your hive on an allotment or similar public or semi-public area you may need to obtain the consent of the Managing Authority, Owner or Committee. In our experience this can take some time to obtain so please don’t leave it until the last minute. If you do not have a site, then please mention this as we may be able to offer possible sites. Farmers with field beans are usually pleased to have bees as it increases the yield considerably.
